Tasted as part of a vertical held at the chateau. The Guiraud 2006 has a floral bouquet with a peppermint-like freshness and vitality – so much that you might think it originates from the New World (not meant pejoratively). The palate is viscous and very well-balanced on the entry with prudently judged acidity cutting through intense mango, marmalade and apricot flavours. There is a superb sense of weight and presence to this Sauternes that should be considered a great success. Drink 2015-2028+

Subtle, but with complex aromas of honey, spices, apple pie and lemon candy. Full-bodied and medium sweet, with intense botrytis and lemon peel character and bright acidity. Powerful and long. Best after 2012.
