A linear and rather tight red with some berry, crushed-stone and bark character. Medium body, firm tannins and a slightly austere finish. 60% merlot and 40% cabernet sauvignon.

Rich and densely fruity, this wine has ripe fruits that shine over the layer of tannins. Black currant fruits and general opulence are already suggesting a wine that will age over the medium-term.

The 2020 Chantegrive is a powerful, driving wine. I very much like the energy here, along with the savory/earthy profile. Ultimately, though, the 2020 feels a bit narrow in its construction. There's just enough mid-palate depth and fruit here. A burst of red fruit mixed with sweet floral accents brightens up the finish to make this quite complete. Even so, my impression is that there is greater potential to tap.
