Estate
Chateau Virevalois was bought in 1937 by Hubert Ballan, grandfather of Thierry Ballan who today runs the winery. The 160 acre property
is located in the Entre-Deux-Mers region of Bordeaux between the two rivers Garonne and Dordogne, a location that protects from bad
weather. The protected location means that the grapes have maximum sun during the summer and achieve a perfect ripening. The soil is
clay and limestone, which gives the wine a crisp minerality and a pronounced terroir note.
Thierry Ballan is the third generation at the vineyard and he was one of the first to take on the French sustainability certification
Agriconfiance which means an absolute minimum of impact on soil and vines. Today, Thierry's son Quentin, the fourth generation, is
also active on the property, which ensures that both the quality and sustainability philosophy lives on and is passed on.
Tasting notes
Pale yellow color
with green highlights. Very aromatic nose with citrus,
grapefruit, mango and mineral notes. The attack on
palate is lively and fresh, this is a generous wine.
Vinification
Skin contact maceration during 9
to 18 hours then alcoholic fermentation on fine lees in
temperature controlled stainless-steel tanks.
