Terroir

The vineyards are located on a granitic bedrock. The gentle slopes and light granite soils with a lot of sand are the perfect combination for good draining. The vines are planted at an altitude of 290 metres and have Southerly and South-Westerly exposures. Both the quality of the soil and the exposure provides us with perfectly mature grapes which are then picked with precise control of the quality of the crop.

Vinification

The Chateau carries out non-carbonic vinification in open vats with the very best grapes. After the maceration, pneumatic pressing and fermentation, the wine is matured in concrete tanks before bottling.

Viticulture

The 14 hectares of vineyards are managed under sustainable farming methods. The density of plantation is 10,000 vines per hectare and the resulting yield is 45 hl/ha.

Background

Chateau des Reyssiers is situated in the Regnie appellation at the bottom of the Brouilly hill. It is located near Beaujeu, the historic capital of Beaujolais.
The combination of the bedrock, slope, exposure and quality of the soil have created a promising terroir.
This area is the historical heart of the Regnie Cru. It was one of the first place in Beaujolais to have been planted with vines by the Romans.

Description

Maison Henry Fessy is now well established as a quality specialist of the Crus. Therefore, today our aim is to expand the range upwards with this high end Chateau in Regnie.

Estate

Construction of the Chateau des Reyssiers dates from the year 1706. Its current architecture still retains the main part of its original character.
This Chateau has a long history over several generations of the "Malachard" family. In 300 years, as far as we can trace, the Chateau has always produced wine.
The front façade overlooks a garden populated with mature trees. The surrounding land is dedicated to sloping vineyards and authentic "maisons beaujolaises".
