Tasting notes
The 2012 shows a beautiful bright robe. The nose offers fresh red fruit and hints of licorice and spice at the end. On the palate the fruit dominates at first but then very quickly it moves to spicy notes with a slight toasted. Good density on the palate.
The Chateau
Chateau des Labourons' current architecture dates from the 19th century. It was rebuilt from ashes after a devastating fire, but still retains some of its original architectural character.
This Chateau has a long history, over five generations of the "de Lescure” family, and it was already producing wine by the 18th century. The southern facade overlooks a garden populated with beautiful mature trees. The surrounding land is of course dedicated to vineyards, but also to pine forests.

Ambition
Maison Henry Fessy is now well established as a quality specialist of the Crus. Therefore, today our aim is to expand the range upwards with this high end Château in Fleurie.
Location
Chateau des Labourons dominates the beautiful hillsides of the Fleurie appellation. It is located 3
kilometres further up the hill from the hamlet of Les Labourons.
The combination of the altitude, slope, exposure and quality of the soil have created a promising terroir in the heart of the Fleurie Cru.
The Chateau overlooks a stunning landscape characterised by twisting roads climbing through a patchwork of vineyards, which gives a mystique to the place.

Terroir
The name "Labourons" in fact means"let's plough", and bears witness to the diverse agricultural heritage of this land. The vines are planted at an altitude of 350-400 metres above sea level on thin soils composed of igneous rock. Mainly pale pink granite that breaks down into coarse sand and creates "blockfields". The steeply sloping, well drained land has mainly southerly or westerly exposure and requires manual work.
Vinification
The Château carries out non-carbonic vinification in open vats with the very best grapes. After the pneumatic pressing and fermentations, the wine is matured (10% in Louis Latour barrels & 90% in open vats) before bottling
