2012 Vintage
In almost all respects, 2012 proved to be a textbook vintage. We had great
fruit set but litte rain during a steady, moderate growing season and no heat
waves of consequence. The wines have great uniformity, and outstanding
balance. Four different vineyards were utilized in the production of our 2012
Sauvignon Blanc, several of them being the oldest plantings of the varietal in
the Alexander Valley. Many of the vineyards are planted near the Russian
River and the soils are made up of small pebbles and clay. This soil
composition allows for good drainage and early ripening of fruit. After
harvest, the must went through a three-week fermentation before settling in
100% stainless steel prior to bottling.
Winery Background
Roth Estate is a family-owned winery dedicated to crafting full-flavored wines
grown in exemplary Sonoma County vineyards. Beginning in 2001, Roth
committed to producing classic Bordeaux varietals in Alexander Valley. A decade
later the winery expanded its winemaking to include cool-climate varietals from
the Sonoma Coast.
