Terra Unica - Tempranillo - Merlot Reserva 2008
Tasting notes
Intense colour, cherry red, towards purplish with a garnet rim. The characteristical aromas of the varieties are mixed together, aroma of red forest berries, violets and fruit compote (currants, blackberry, cherry), also stressing the nice aromas that ageing in barrels provide, with coconut, vanilla, high roast and smoked notes that the wine stay in barrel provides. In the mouth the wine is tasty and well-structured and has some tannins that will be filed as this wine is kept for some time in the bottle. Very persistent and lengthy-ended.
Winemaking
The grapes of each variety are carefully selected, destemmed and gently pressed. Vinified separately in stainless steel tanks with a prolonged maceration on the skins, using selected yeasts. Fermentation is started slowly at a low temperature until the end of the fermentation at 12 Celsius. Malolactic fermentation follows. The wines are then blended together. Aged in new American Oak barrels. Once bottled, the wine is rounded off in the bottle for a further minimum of twelve months before placing it in the market.
Harvest
Hand picked during the second and third week of october and transported to the winer y in boxes and small trailers.
Technical note
Elaborated from the varieties Tempranillo and Merlot selected by our technicians in the vineyards of our property. Matured and aged in new American oak barrels and its subsequent rounding in bottle offer us a few shades of red cherry, fleshy and structured on the palate, with an elegant aroma, balsamic notes and hints of vanilla.
