Aging
Classic aging of 20 months in French and American oak barrels. In the course of aging, a quarterly racking is carried out, which also assists in the clarification of the wine (as filtering or aggressive treatments are not performed) in order to preserve the natural characteristics of the wine. Following its aging in the barrel, the wine is clarified with egg white and subsequently bottle, aging in the bottle at least for two years before placing it in the market.
Tasting note
A medium depth wine featuring an attractive ruby red colour, which denotes a long aging in barrel and bottle. It presents a complex aroma, highlighting red fruit, perfectly combined with spicy notes and a slight char, which is provided by its long aging in French and American oak barrels. Fruity sensations and the complex character provided by its good aging dominate on the palate, with vanilla and spicy notes given by the French and American oak. The aftertaste presents greedy and pleasant sensations, setting the style of an elegant Rioja wine.
Harvest
Hand picked during the second and third week of October and transported to the winery in boxes and small trailers.
Technical note
Hacienda Lopez de Haro Reserva is a round, gentle and complex wine, made with Tempranillo and Graciano varieties, and with a classic aging of 20 months in French and American oak barrels. This wine reaches the market in its optimum moment after a settled wait of over five years, including barrel and bottle.
Vineyards
A selection of old Tempranillo and Graciano vineyards with very low production settled on poor land of Ebro's terraces in the area of San Vicente de la Sonsierra (La Rioja)
